Cutting Edge Boston

Cutting Edge Boston is a laser cut design shop known for their photography glassware. The company had plans to expand spring 2020 to offer laser classes and retail in their new location on the first floor of the Lydia Pinkham Building in Lynn MA. Late March the shop decided to switch production from home decor items to producing face shields for frontline and essential workers. Couture Planet

Couture Planet is a women-owned business based in Lynn, Massachusetts. They create fashion handbags from 100% post-consumer (recycled) newspaper. The bags are eco-friendly, unique, and proudly MADE IN THE USA. They are an “impact-driven” company, focusing on maintaining a small footprint, souring responsibly, and being an integral part of the local community.
When the Covid-19 virus hit and everyone was ordered to not only social distance, but stay home, Couture Planet immediately joined the effort of other manufacturers and home sewers across the nation to provide much-needed protective masks to medical and other essential personnel – our frontline heroes. Co-owner, Michelle Kane, confirmed: “We knew we had to be part of that effort.” They quickly got up to speed on how to create the masks – thanks to a number of on-line videos and conversations with friends in the medical professions. They sought donations of fabric and elastic and lots of generous people jumped in to lend a hand. That led to community member providing monetary donations in an effort to pay it forward. They are answering the call of many – and also coordinating with the Governor’s office via First Lady, Lauren Baker.
